Tisserand's beautiful organic German Blue Chamomile essential oil, with its deep blue color, has a warm, sweet, full-bodied herbaceous aroma. Its color is attributed to chamazulene which is formed by the heat of the distillation process from the parent chemical matricine, a constituent found in the raw plant material, specifically the flowers. Chamazulene is a sesquiterpene component of German Blue Chamomile; (-) α-bisabolol, a sesquiterpene alcohol, is also present in this essential oil and is considered to be the primary active constituent in German Blue Chamomile.

According to Kurt Schnaubelt, this essential oil is fast acting and "is especially user-friendly because it is absolutely nontoxic and can be used in an emergency in its undiluted form."
